So yeap, definitely saw the episode of Restaurant Impossible where they came in to the Valley Inn and fixed it up. Pretty much had to go in and give it a try seeing as its only 5 minutes from my house, plus I can now say "hey, I stopped in that place that was on TV..." like it somehow makes me a big deal. Anyway, I never tried Valley Inn before it was on the show and went through the remodel, so I can't say if its a major improvement or not. It's not bad inside, seems clean, and the remodel seems to have made it a little more modern. We were seated right away, and the wait staff was very nice and helpful. One of the first things we tried were the Onion Rings with Spicy Ketchup. This was featured on the show, so we had to give it a try. The onion rings were really good and flavorful, and the spicy ketchup is the perfect compliment to them. These onion rings are a classic case of less is more. They are very simple shoestring onion rights, fried, seasoned, and served with the ketchup. Nothing fancy, but in this case, it works well. Next up was the main course, I tried the Fried Chicken since it is supposed to be one of the staples at Valley Inn. There is an option to order all white meat when you order the fried chicken dinner, which is what I ordered. What I got was 3 pretty huge chicken breasts, along with a side of pasta that came with it (you also have an option for fries or potato) The chicken was great, not dry at all, not super greasy, and seasoned really well. I couldn't even finish the chicken let alone the side of pasta, but I did try it just to see how it was. I'm finnicky with pasta, but this wasn't bad. Again nothing to fancy, which again works for the Valley Inn. I would definitely come back to the Valley Inn again. I will say, its more of an older crowd in here.

If I were reviewing the food alone it would be 5 stars!!! Go for the food, service is great, its fun seeing something that was on a tv show. Now why I knocked off 2 stars. The drinks! They are tasty but way over priced for what they are. I spent a ridiculous amount of money to catch a buzz that if I had been in any other bar I probably would have ended up hospitalized (I am a very light social drinker). If you want fantastic food, huge portions, great friendly service, and a fun time this is your place! If you want to go out drinking do so before you come here (it's a 4am bar).

My wife and i went here to see if it had really turned around after Restaurant: Impossible. They absolutely have. I had pot roast with Guinness mushroom gravy that was delicious! It also had perfectly cooked asparagus. She got shrimp pasta with a super fresh tasting marinera sauce that I would order anytime! It is in a neighborhood, not on a main street, but worth a visit if you are nearby. Both things we ordered were daily specials. I gave 5 stars to bump up their average, since the old reviews are still here. It's much better now.

Wow. Drove a good distance to get here and was DRASTICALLY disappointed. Salad spilled onto the floor. Dirty dishes piled on the table next to us. Never knew our waitresses name. It definitely appeared that if you were not a local/regular the restaurant personnel would rather not deal with you. They won't have that problem with my wife and I - WE WILL NOT BE BACK!

Great food, these people writing reviews about having drinks at 3am don't know food and should be in AA. Again, great food and friendly staff.

A dirty, filthy place! Dirty old plastic tablecloths, nasty restroom- this place is gross! Was served a steak with hair AND fuzz on it! (probably dropped on the dirty floor) YUCK!!!

The best Shrimp Alfredo and Chicken Alfredo!! It is creamy and 10x better than Red Lobsters shrimp alfredo (which is very greasy!!). The Place is dark and gloomy but I would recommend you take your food to go!

There are very few places that I truly dislike and I abhor going to. This is one of those places. The atmosphere is just awful! I can only stomach this place for a drink at the most before I feel the urge to run away and never come back. The only reason why I come here is that sometimes my friends want to come here after the other bars close. Most of the time I decline but everyone and then when I am the driver I will suck it up and take one for the team. The service is adequate at best. The place just reeks of old beer. Th place is always in a state of disarray and 99% of the crowd should be in bed passed out before they even came there. Instead they are at the Valley getting on my last nerve.

I found this place because I had a 90 minute break between classes at MVCC and wanted a burger. The decor was old school big time and that's fine with me. The bartender was very friendly and the food and service were excellent. I will be a regular on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between Statistics and Natural Science. Huge thumbs up from me!!

According to some of the reviews here, this is not a place for upscale yuppies who expect to over pay for poor service and substandard food. In my opinion, the food and the service is good and you can't beat the prices. You get decent portions and there's hardly ever a wait. Sure, the decor could stand to be updated but that's what gives this place character. This is your neighborhood watering hole, nothing more, nothing less. You don't have to pretend to be someone your're not cuz the patrons frankly don't give a rats azz. They are there to eat and drink!

Great food, phenomenal service! As another reviewer stated, decided to visit after seeing it on Restaurant: Impossible. From the moment you walk in, you are taken care of and treated like family (even though this was our first time there). Portions are more than adequate and the selection was definitely surprising for a small place in the southwest suburbs. A must visit!

I went here with my wife because I like the fried chicken and soup. We had a coupon which we paid ten dollars for but they would not honor because we would not spend 40 dollars in food even thought the coupon said you only had to spend 20 dollars in food.We spent 30 minutes talking to the waitress ,manager and finally the owner But received no satisfaction and left without ordering. They said they have had this problem before. We told the owner we would not be back and she said she didn't care. I guess she doesn't care care about her employees either because her waitress lost a good tip and she lost a customer who has eaten there many times.

I agree with one of the other reviewers. This place is like having a drink in the basement of some old alcholoic grandfathers place. Its dark and dingy. Everything about it screams cheap. If they replaced some things inside, maybe got friendlier staff, added a few more beers on tap etc, it would be tolerable. The plus side is that it is a 4 o'clock bar on the south side. Ive been here maybe 5 times tops and honestly every time besides one that I was there (because the drinks were flowing full force) Ive felt not only out of place, but also and more importantly TREATED like I was out of place. This is a bar for locals who've been frequenting it for 10+ years, if you have , then you'd probably have a great time, if you haven't, then...probably not. Its good for a drink or 2 when your in the neighborhood and you don't want to go home early. Be forewarned, this is one of the only bars Ive ever been to that does NOT accept debit or credit cards (at least it didn't the last time I was in there about 2 years ago now)

If your looking for fancy this is not it, if your looking for some good food, good drinks and a good time. then you need to come here. I have had the beer battered perch and it is amazing, so tasty and they do not skimp on the serving. Along with it was some green beans and a salad. Wow this is good, tendered and light making for happy taste buds. I returned and had the fried chicken, generous portion, leg, wing, breast, thigh for Friday special of $4.95. Again this was delicious. It came with coleslaw and I went for fries. The coleslaw was yummo and the fries were freshly peeled with the skin still on. Not only is the food delicious, but it is served steaming hot, be careful. The service is right on. Our server even stated the drinks are strong just fyi. And they were they have a heavy hand on the pour. On Friday's the owner Faye is there and this gal is a gas. She has been there and done that and probably more. She will great you and welcome you. And she may offer other surprises that may or may not offend. But it is all good. As i said good food and reasonable prices. Worth a trip

While the fried chicken is juicy there isn't much flavor or anything special about it....the restaurant is a bit dingy which gives it a less than clean appearence...just an average diner with nothing that stands out

This place let me down one time I invited all my friends to eat here because it's in the neighborhood, bad move, we sat in the cramped up little room food was not cooked properly,my friend found hair in his salad, and the waitress brought out the drinks with her hair sitting in the cups of water never recommend this place for family dining !

The thing about this place : This place's food is great ,great service, but when it comes to the bar things change, it's like you're in a different place, the staff at the bar are not very friendly and make you feel like an intruder, exept for one of them whose name I can't reveal because it would seem like I'm trying to patronisevher, but the rest could use some sensitivity training.

I was told by the "night manager" at 7pm after inquiring about why our food was taking over an hour to come out of the kitchen, and that two tables that arrived after us had received their food orders before us, that she "has no idea what is going on in the kitchen."

I made my first (but not my last) visit to The Valley Inn this evening. Large and good portions, moderate prices, attentive and friendly waitstaff. Food service was done in a reasonable time between ordering and delivery to our table. The chicken looked especially delicious, and I heard from one of my dinner companions that the pasta was great. Kind of a limited dessert menu but it looked wonderful (brownie with ice cream and whipped cream). Full bar service, video poker available.

I think I only end up here sometimes because it is the safest of the four o'clock bars in the area. And they never charge a cover. Ever. Yeah, every once in a while a fight will break out, but that can be expected. The drinks here run the gamut from mildly trendy martinis (can be pretty good, depending on who is tending bar) to the ever popular beer-and-shot. I like it here, because it is a very local place, and most weekend nights for me it almost becomes a mini high school reunion. But the drinks are a little overpriced, and of course, the price goes up after 2am.

It's been 8 years, one Restaurant Impossible and one Food Network plug since I've been here. It was a slow Sunday afternoon and I almost didn't come here because of the poor Yelp showings. Until I saw Kim R's review and that chic will actually tell you if it's crap or chocolate ice cream. Yes, the place still looks like a roadside dive. But Ramsay only had 10 grand to play with. Besides. The food and atmosphere are what I'm talking about. The server was over the top, talking to us in our language and them going to another table and talking about Christ. This broad knows how to shake ya down and leave you with a smile. We started with the fried mushrooms. They are not huge, but there are plenty of them and not at all greasy. I came for the beer battered perch that I remember so well. Or not! Off the hook crunch. Light and I cannot explain the flakey delicious batter. The green beans were packing the flavor as well. I was expecting at least the same or less. Better than I remember and the prices can't be serious. They are at least 20 to 50 percent below what you would pay elsewhere for sub par food offerings. Again! I am not here to lick the wallpaper and I have seen worse. Like China town. This place will be back on my when in the hood list. Everyone was having a good time and they all said goodbye on our way out. Cheers!

I had to check out this local establsihment, especially since it was featured on Restaurant Impossible. I wasn't impressed...appeared better looking on the TV show than in person. The cuban sandwhich I ordered was sloppy. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Everybody seems to know each other...neighborhood bar.

We continue to enjoy the lunch specials here. Today we had beer battered lake perch and shrimp and mushroom alfredo. The pasta was done perfectly al dente, and the creamy alfredo was scrumptious, full of good-sized shrimp and mushrooms. The Mediterranean minestrone soup was also delicious. I would have rated it 5 stars except for one change we did not like: instead of putting out butter with the bread, they put out little tubs of "spread" --- which was hydrogenated soy oil.

Shortly: DO NOT GO HERE! I went here with my wife on a Wednesday. We got the fried chicken which said it was 4 pieces and decided to get the white meat chicken only. it said 4.50 on the menu and 2 dollars extra for white meat only. we waited over 40 minutes to get the chicken but on top of that it was only 3 pieces not 4. When we got the check they charged us 8.95 each instead of 6.50 with the special. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant! wrong quantity, overcharged...

Saw the eps on Restaurant Impossible and decided to come in and try. The area was nice around senior houses. I had the artichoke mushroom for appetizer and shrimp linguine! It was absolutely delicious. The mushroom melts in your mouth! Service was slow because there was only one waitress working, but food came out in a fair amount of time. I will definitely come again to try more food in the menu!

Slowwww service. It took 35 minutes to get a to-go order at 5:45pm. Don't go here if you don't have the luxury of time!

I've lived in the area for years, but never tried Valley Inn. I heard that they're going to be featured on an upcoming episode of "Restaurant:Impossible" and thought we'd give them a whirl. I'm glad we did! My wife and I arrived on a Saturday evening about 7:30 and grabbed the last parking space in the lot (which is pretty sizeable). We exptected a wait, but were happy to see that there were a couple of empty tables in the neatly trimmed restaurant area. We started with the featured appetizer of homemade shoestring-style onion rings with spicy ketchup. The generous portion served was piping hot and deliciously spiced. As an etree, my wife ordered the pork chops with a baked potato, and I ordered the Pork Roma (pork chop stuffed with cheese, ham, and Italian spices, served with a medley of italian vegetables over a creamy polenta). As a starter, I ordered the chorizo soup (yum) and my wife had a salad with French dressing. The pork chops were HUGE and perfectly seasoned. The only complaint was that the chop on the bottom was a tad underdone on one end. The sauce served with the chops was very good. The Pork roma was PERFECTLY crusted and cooked, and the polenta was creamy yet firm. The medley of zucchini and onions was nice and just firm enough. The cream sauce that was served with the Roma was tasty, and there was just enough so that the dish wasn't swimming in it. For dessert, we shared a strawberry shortcake, which was nothing really special in taste (it WAS good), but presentation was nice - with strawberry sauce drizzled across the plate and dollops of whipped cream. The total bill for dinner (which also consisted of one tap beer, one iced tea, and a soda) was $49.00. Not too bad for what we considered to be a very return-worthy visit.

The meat loaf is really a grand slam in my book. We enjoyed the freshly made veggies as well. Mashed potatoes generously served with some awesome gravy. We've become fans of the fried chicken just this week. Your passion for great food and a warm and inviting atmosphere shows through. Keeping up your long time tradition of tasty food made with love. Kudos to all~

Ordered their catering for my son's first birthday. Awesome food, came in hot. The gentleman who brought the food was dressed nicely in a chef's jacket and gave us instructions for the food and even gave us tips on when to put on the warmers. Everyone loved the food. We were told by a family members co-worker to try them out. We used to cater from Papa Joe's, but we now switched and will use Valley Inn from now on. We had fried chicken, Italian beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, and salad FYI. All was good quality and was good as left overs as well.
